Over the past few weeks, fourth-year Speech- , Language- , and Hearing Therapy students from Stellenbosch University have visited our Tierstel Daycare Centre to conduct essential screenings as part of their course practicals.

Transport is vital for the mobility and well-being of staff, children, and members of the Fairhills Association (DTK Fairtrade Initiative). So, having a transport service in place is crucial to the success of our Fairtrade programme. Currently, Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative has two mini busses enabling easy transport solutions for our Fairtrade programme.

The Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative is making strides in improving healthcare access in Rawsonville, with their established Fairtrade clinic and mobile clinic.

On June 14, 2024, Fairtrade Africa and Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative (DTK Fairtrade Initiative) joined forces to host a pivotal Youth Day meeting. The aim was to confront the pressing challenges afflicting the youth of our Breedekloof community.

Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative is excited to announce that we are collaborating with the Anna Foundation for an after-school programme at Lorraine NGK Primary School. This collaboration aims to nurture and empower our young children and make a lasting impact on their lives.

Our rural community clinic provides basic medical services, maternal and child healthcare, chronic disease management and even basic eye care to all our Fairtrade beneficiaries.

Wayne emphasises the fact that he might not have been able to tell his story today if it were not for the Fairtrade initiative. Wayne was nine years old when the Fairhills Association (now known as the DTK Fairtrade Initiative) project started. On Friday, 10 November, Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative hosted a 16 Days of Activism event for the women from our Fairtrade farms. Advocate Cindy Abdol, from our neighbouring town Worcester, spearheaded a crucial discussion on violence against women and children.

We had another wonderful visit from the folks at 2Fellas Media, as part of another media project via the Fairtrade Foundation. They visited our brand new mobile library at the local primary school.

Student 2 Star is an opportunity for the learners to gain more in-depth experience about what it means to be a professional artist and how to prepare for an exhibition.
