A Visit from Dutch Music Group

In October, the Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative had the privilege to be visited by Bernsdorf Blaasorkes, a talented Dutch youth music group, who brought the universal language of music to Lorraine NGK Primary School. Their visit, which included a lively workshop with the Grade 6 and 7 students, was a celebration of creativity, learning, and cultural exchange.

The workshop was a joyful exploration of basic sounds and rhythms, designed to be both educational and entertaining. For many children in our farming communities, opportunities like these are rare but deeply impactful.

Music has the power to ignite imagination, build confidence, and create connections that transcend barriers. In farming communities, where resources and exposure to the arts can be limited, bringing music into schools is especially vital. It offers young learners a chance to dream beyond their everyday surroundings, fostering creativity and resilience.

The DTK Fairtrade Initiative is always deeply appreciative of groups, both local and international, who dedicate their time and energy to enriching our local projects and schools. Visits like these not only inspire the children but also strengthen the bonds between our community and the world beyond.

Together, let’s continue to cultivate hope, creativity, and opportunity in our farming communities—one note at a time.
