New Supplies for Daycare Centres

February was an exciting month for the children and staff of the Fairhills daycare centres. All three centres in Rawsonville (Cabriere, Onderplaas and Tierstel) received brand new educational toys and activities.

These daycare centres are situated in rural areas where children are rarely exposed to educational and developmental activities critical for early childhood development. So, it is up to our daycares to make sure that our children receive the correct attention for healthy development. That is why maintenance of equipment, learning material, educational tools, and caring necessities are so important in daycare programmes. In rural and financially-struck communities it is especially important for these items and systems to be up to date. Having the right games and equipment helps children not only improve their physical development, but is also beneficial for brain development.

This year Du Toitskloof Wines sponsored funds so that new and better equipment, toys and activities could be bought for all three daycare centres. This offered us the opportunity to invest in the physical and mental development of the children from our rural communities. Advice on which items were crucial for the development of the children were taken from our kinderkinetics therapist.

The Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative cares about the future and well-being of our children. That is why financial assistance or sponsorship in any form is always welcomed. Assistance does not always need to be in financial capacity, but could be by donating equipment, expertise or time.

We are thrilled to have been offered to opportunity to upgrade our equipment at the daycare centres, and cannot wait to see it being utilised by the staff and children.
