Young Shooters Making Us Proud
We are bursting with pride over the accomplishments of our local soccer team, Young Shooters. Through hard work and dedication, this team - consisting of Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative beneficiaries - has achieved remarkable success, solidifying them as one of the top teams in Rawsonville.
Rawsonville boasts with many soccer teams, originating from the various farms we have in this farming community. Of the fifteen tournaments that have taken place this year, the Young Shooters have participated in fourteen tournaments. Of those, they have won eight tournaments. What a marvelous testament to their passion and dedication.
Asking them what’s next, the managers stated that they plan to enroll five of their young players in the soccer trials. For young players, taking part in soccer trials can help expose our youth to the enriching experiences and possibilities that sport has to offer.
Being part of the Young Shooters is about more than just the sport. Jim van Heerden, the marketing manager of the team, states that it is the team spirit, discipline and unity that makes it so great to be part of this team.
Even though the Young Shooters soccer team is not an official Fairtrade club, it still provides us with joy and pride that members from our Fairtrade community have come this far by creating opportunities of their own and making it sustainable.
The Young Shooters are currently seeking out sponsors to assist with sport uniforms and maintaining their field. Should you be interested in offering assistance or becoming involved in their soccer programme, please do get in touch with our Fairhills office.
